What makes Dominican dominoes different

Play in frentes

Four players sit in two partnerships. Your teammate is across the table, and you win points together as a frente.

The double-six set

Twenty-eight tiles from blank-blank to six-six, seven to each player, no draw pile. Every tile is in play from the deal.

Tranque and capicua

Block the game to a standstill (tranque) and win on fewer pips, or close with a capicua that fits both ends at once.

Race to 100

The winning frente banks the pips left in every other hand. First team to 100 points takes the match.

Quick rules summary

  • Four players, two frentes (partners sit across the table), double-six set, seven tiles each.
  • The holder of the highest double leads the first hand. In later hands the previous winner opens with any tile.
  • Match a tile to either open end of the chain. If you cannot play, you pass.
  • A hand ends when a player runs out of tiles (a domino), or when all four pass and the game is blocked (tranque).
  • The winning frente scores the pips left in the other hands. First to 100 wins the match.
